I regrew a relationship with an old classic art material over the last few months and worked away on paintings and art experiments mostly in secret. I used oil pastels (maybe in excess; yet never enough!). Yes?

I did not work with a sketch nor reference. I went straight in with the oils over watercolor. I weaved the roots of the tree, sculpted the landscape of the woman’s skirt, and played with the ghostly parasitic plants in the foreground.

This painting is reminiscent of my “botanical darling” paintings and drawings. Humanity's relativity to nature and the process of life.

I sat down to create the painting with no particular intention, but rather have the flow of ideas I've been playing with over the years consume me. I painted in my zone. Slowly coming to terms with aging these days and not being about to save the world and do everything. I'm a young mother after all. & the babe calls. I cannot give in to exhaustion. Do not many women feel the pressure?
